Proposed apartment building at King & Lyle

Urban-Design-Brief-700-King-Street-2015-03-15.pdf_(page_35_of_47).jpgWhat is being proposed?

Medallion Corporation, the developer that built the two large apartment buildings at 700 King St, has proposed a third apartment building for the Northeast corner of King St and Lyle St.

The building is proposed to be 21 stories, with up to 298 units.

The existing two buildings are 21 stories (292 units) and 24 stories (325 units).

What has happened so far?

January 22: evening open house hosted by the Old East Village BIA, with Stantec and City of London planning staff attending.

February 18: notice of an application to amend the zoning bylaw sent to area residents.

March 18: urban design brief on the proposed development (47 pages) reviewed by Urban Design Peer Review Panel and their recommendations (two pages).

April 29: notice of public participation meeting (two pages) to be held on 19 May sent to area residents.

Next Steps

There will be a public participation meeting at the planning and environment committee meeting at City Hall on 19 May. It will start no earlier than 4:30pm.

The planning staff report on the proposed development, which may be different from what it shown in the urban design brief, will be available the week before the meeting. Until that report is available, the urban design brief is a good document to read to understand what is being proposed. I will update this page when the planning staff report is available.
